Welcome to peak spring. It’s time to say goodbye to strictly jeans and warm pants and hello to spring/summer dressing. We have officially reached a time where we are wearing easy-breezy with the maximum floor length silhouettes, bold yet fresh clothing on repeat. It’s only a matter of time before those spring’22 trends we saw back at last fall’s runway shows will be dressed on bodies that are out and about. In fact, some of those are already rolling, with warm weather approaching I have been thinking about the top spring trends I will be investing in, certainly there are few particular ones that are at top of my list. Have seen these trends on the runways, among the new arrivals of many retailers, and of course while scrolling through IG.
Some strong comebacks on the fashion radar include strapless tube dresses and Y2K inspired styles that are just about everywhere you look these days. Unique denim – Think about hand-painted, embroidered, embellished, patched, and unique crossover jeans.
Strapless – Tube/dresses have sleek, bold appearance, kind of Bond-girl effect. Styling trick is layering it under leather bomber or tailored blazer. Complete the dressing by throwing black sunglasses for polished look.
Technicolor suiting – The world is ready for a bit of Technicolor. Start with a suit that stands out in shades ranging from orange to cobalt to neon green.
Rubber mules/clogs – The slip-on shoes are having a moment. From Balenciaga to Bottega Veneta all have approved the rubber shoe trend, rubber mules/clogs are super comfortable, lightweight and represent a slight subtler approach.
Shacket – shirt+jacket = Shacket. The perfect layering piece through spring, consider wool-blend and leather styles that make them thicker than your average shirt but thinner than heavy winter coat, perfect for layering over a t-shirt or cropped tops.
Peplum top – They are officially back in style, the updated version of the peplum includes puff-sleeve blouses, backless & cropped. If you don’t wanna show off your waist, then stay away:) as peplum tops are more focused on accentuating the waistline.
Sporty Sunglasses – This accessory has been everywhere on the runways and is now a fashion insiders favorite.
High-end tote bags – The kind made from woven materials or canvas which feel much more spring-like than their leather counterparts. High-end brands are serving up more logo focused totes
Floor-length silhouettes – It’s a go-to for fashion lovers because of the chic and easy to style nature right now. It’s a great choice for transitional weather with jacket or other layers.
Go green – Seasons “It” color makes a cameo via both full-on green outfits and looks accented by pops of green, it feels fresher than some of the past few color trends.
Tangerine – Electric tangerine hues are cropping up more and more, try adding in one or two pops of color with a bright accessory or single piece that stands out against neutrals instead of opting for head-to-toe ensembles.
Ribbed pants – Ribbed pants are not just loungewear, try pairing them with long tees and oversized button downs.
Flat shoe – “Ballets”. Shoe trend that is about to take off.
Mules, Chunky loafers, Puffy sliders – These styles are famous for a reason, leather loafers and mules with bold buckles and jumbo chains are super trending right now. Pair them with absolutely everything, Puffy styles first came last summer but looks like they are here to stay, the cushy flats are unbelievably comfortable and also very easy to style with seasons most favorite summer dresses, shorts as well as perfect for a beach/pool day.
