What to expect in Spring?

The new year brings new excitement and the promise of more exciting fashion. Spring is where joyful, mood-boosting fashion lies, for now, winter is still very much here but looking at SS22’s trends you will definitely feel you want to update your spring wardrobe. The ultra-minis, super sheer fabrics, solid neon shades, low-slung waists and more cut-outs. The emphasis on the fashion shows and showiness actually seems to have freed up designers thinking when it comes to clothes. We got everything from Gracian draping to exposed torsos and the crisp little skirts. Doesn’t fashion that’s a little all over the place and yet vibrant, exciting, and fearlessly weird feel right for right now?

Even though certain rules are only applicable to runways, (meaning some runway trends are not meant for your daily comfort) there is also a modern take on the high/street/fast fashion where you get to see the “implementation” of the particular runway trend which makes it wearable. Runway meets fast fashion, something that is easy to style, versatile and adapt your daily wardrobe needs. ZARA and H&M are the best examples when the fast fashion is concerned.

White – White is definitely the spring color, and we are expecting dresses in mid length and wide-leg, flared bottoms in the color that never goes out of style.

Popping Colors – Think about Yellow, pink, green, orange in bold popping shades, even the solar shades like gold, bronze, amber and marigold, try adding something colorful even if it just an accessory.

Modern Cut-outs – Look for cut-outs at either the shoulder, waist or back, the trend seems to pop through various silhouettes, from tops to swimsuits.

Half-Zip Pullover – This piece is good for layering, layer it over a tee-shirt keeping the zip open or throw one over a midi dress.

Long denim cutoff shorts – Time to say goodbye to shorter denim cutoffs. the trend got viral as soon as Sylvie Mus posted a picture wearing longer denim shorts on IG.

Wide-leg denim – From straight leg to boyfriend to wide-leg, combine comfort and ease with undisputed fashion savvy. Try wide leg denims with heels or sleek boots to elevate the look.

Midis – Midi dresses are the go-tos when we are talking about the spring trend, feminine and flirty, these dresses are great to wear on vacations as well as at home.

Oversized button-down – The more oversized the fit the better has become a new mantra of the styling, there is nothing more classic than a button-down paired with blue straight leg denim along with vintage sneakers. Consider white and the office blue shades or even the stripes.

Tulle – Tulle takes its name from the city of Tulle, in around 1700, the French began to knit a fabric with hexagonal meshes, similar to a honeycomb known as Tulle. In the early 1900’s tulle was used to adorn evening gowns, lingerie’s and home furnishings. The fabric is so versatile that it allows designers to create beautiful, elaborate designs in the industry.

Racer Tank Tops – The styling possibilities are endless when racerback tank tops are considered for both casual and elevated ensembles. Ditch the basic tank tops and opt for racerback instead.

Low-rise bottoms – Low-rise bottoms have been rethought in 2022, we are already seeing styles with wider, slouchier silhouettes, long inseams, and rises that sit underneath the waist. You must have seen the pleated low-waisted skirt by Miu Miu which is talk of the social platforms since last couple of weeks. This 2000s style feels much more approachable with all updated proportions. Think about low rise jeans, micro miniskirts, cargos/utility pants, pleated chinos etc.

Sheer clothing – Intrepidly sheer “naked” styles have appeared in every fashion city so far. There is a daring fashion attitude in the air for sure. See it below…
