Keeping up with fashion trends can be so much fun but also a little exhausting since trends often come and go. Some people spend small fortune keeping up with the latest fashion only to retire many items after a single season when they are no longer in vogue. On the flip side, some of 2022’s fashion trends do seem to be worth the investment. If you are working hard with a limited budget, the trends below are among the most likely to have staying power and are wardrobe staples worth adding. Happy Scrolling!!
Silky smooth –
The seductive luster of silk never fails to enthrall. 2022 welcomes a new era of liquid dressing, this spring and beyond. The allure of silk has got designers in a spin this year. This quicksilver fabric washed across the runways like a river, pooling in folds and dripping over lithe forms with sultry intensity at Victoria Beckham, Etro, Valentino and Roksanda. Silk can take the dye from the acidic, retina-searing colors that designers favor. Silk wasn’t always come-to-bed suggestive. At Louis Vuitton, for instance, delicate bias-cut slip dresses in luminous blue and acid yellow turned tough thanks to street styling. Paired with leggings, cowboy boots and leather coats, silk dressing took an urban edge. Silk can be molded to serve any time of day or function. You can wear silk pieces with a blazer and sneakers or layer under a big sweater or dressed up with heels or consider flowy silk suit even.
Back to school –
Think timeless varsity style, knit polos, pleated miniskirts, trousers, tartan prints, and cardigan sweaters, the athletic-driven, scholarly style that has inspired many runways looks.
KNIT dressesing –
We have seen on the runways, Bottega Veneta’s fringe turtlenecks and Givenchy’s frilly knits, seemed like the traditional knit dresses got a whole new look. The knit trend we have learned to know and love over the last few years, because despite their relaxed feel, these pieces certainly don’t feel dressed down. Polo dresses, off-shoulder tops, long midis and wide leg trousers are also offered in soft-as-ever knits these days. It’s a way of dressing that’s easy on the body as well as for the eyes. Here are some elevated ensembles that put comfort first.
Cutouts –
It goes without saying that the cut-out trend has become one of the most sought-after trends. From bodycon dresses to bodysuits, jeans and tees, this trend has taken over the catwalk along with Instagram’s feeds, as many influencers styling their take on the cut-out trend. Christian Siriano’s cutout collection, which featured almost full body cutouts, even Cult Gaia hardly had a garment back in 2021 that didn’t consist of a side or hip cut-out. The trend has super redefined style, along with a bold yet daring approach, and it will be sticking around for a while.
Plisse Pleats Please –
The flexible, textured look from tiny, micro-pleats or folds is luxe but accessible, and the crimped fabric has been sent not only on the runway but among some of our favorite brands. Japanese designer Issey Miyake created his infamous Pleats Please back in 1994 with a line of garments solely constructed in this lightly creased pleating. This debut collection was the start of the notable plisse pleat. Designers have started to apply the technique to their own wares, showcasing plisse garments on the runway recently, including Dior and Altuzarra. From slinky column dresses to folded mock-neck tops, the creased technique on dresses, mixed into trousers and onto outerwear as well. It’s nice to see accordion folds on garments in a variety of breezy, move-with-you styles that will offer a sense of that elegance ease which many of us have adopted since the pandemic. This fancy texture instantly becomes the ideal in-between-seasons/year-round piece. See some fashionable fluidity down below.
Ikat Print –
Ikat as noted refers to the technique in which the threads of the cloth are dyed before they are woven and are tied with resists, bleeding from beneath the ties to create the distinctive blurry look of the patterns. This blurriness of pattern seems to be a universally pleasing aesthetic. Ikat has shifted technologically, ideologically, aesthetically and in terms of use, as it has journeyed lately, into internationalized fashion sectors. The use of ikat cloth in fashion connects clothing and self-expression since, the cloth represents the ” ethnic peoplehood” from southeast Asia. Take your styling game to the next level by adding some modern Ikat print pieces this spring/summer.
And that’s the end:)
